New York Yankees: More good news

Ohhhh yes, the New York Yankees are back in first place all by their lonesome after beating the Rays 5-3, which is great news but there is more.

Rumor has it, via the NY Post, that speedster Brett Gardner has run the bases and practiced bunting for the first time since his July elbow surgery.

Gardner’s timetable to return is said to be just days away but skipper Joe Girardi said it will most likely be in a limited role to pinch run and maybe some left field.

So, how will the Yankees stealing machine fair diving for bases?

Well, according to Gardner (NY Post quoted this out of Girardi’s mouth but it would make no sense):

“I feel back to my old self. Diving for a ball, I don’t have any reservations about that.”

Gardner’s plan is to work on diving over the next two days to get his timing down again on the base-pads.

If Gardner does really feel, “100%” like he claims it would be a huge boost for the Yankees, as any team contending would.

You have to give some credit to MLB for giving fans playoff-like atmosphere so early, as baseball has never been more exciting as it right now.

Makes the Post's mistake look rather tame by comparison. But some of your readers might think that diving is part of some offensive warm-up drill.

Be nice to see him again in his limited role.
