As of today, the New York Yankees sit one game back in the AL Wild Card standings.
And this has made Yankees haters confused, and of course angry again.
As many have asked me, how are the too old, too injured and already declared postseason-less Bronx Bombers still very much alive?
Well i told them that just like in life, timing is everything in sports too.
Oh and that Jesus and his Father are huge Yankees fans might play a small part too.
Here is a quick breakdown of how the Bronx Bombers jumped so high, and so fast in the AL Wild Card Standings:
- Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles, 5-4 for the second straight night in a row.
- The Rays have lost last two to Red Sox, and are posting a 3-7 over last 10 played.
But the biggest shout out goes to the Boston Red Sox who beat the current Wild Card holding Rays in extra innings last night. As that win finalized the Yankees jump to being only one away.
Yes, the Yankees are in a better spot to make the postseason then they were four days ago because they finally caught up to the other contenders.
As now the washed up Yankees share the same number (68) in the loss column as the Orioles and Indians. While, also keeping an eye on, the Royals who are lurking one back with 69 defeats on the season.
And with just 16 games left on the regular season schedule, these two Wild Card berths are any of the above teams to lose.
This is the type of AL Wild Card chase that baseball fans dream about.
Whoever called baseball boring is just an idiot.
