fans it will be.
Whether you like it or not, success in pro sports is measured on winning championships.
Is this exact?
But team-wise, winning championships is the greatest accomplishment and a franchise will not be considered the best if this number is zero.
So as hard as this is to admit as a Yankees fan, over the past 10 seasons, the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals are the two élite teams in MLB.
What have the Red Sox, and Cardinals done that arguably makes them the two best teams?
Here are a few joint accomplishments of the two since 2003:
- 5 World Series appearances.
- 4 World Series Championships. (BOS – 04’ & 07’) (STL – 05’ & 11’)
- 7 pennants.
- 14 playoff appearances.
So what does this all mean?
The winner of this World Series will not only be the 2013 Champions, but also be considered the best MLB team since 2003.
Hey as Bo Diddly once said… “Maybe I’ll take a rain check and try to get in next year.”
