Yankees: Alex Rodriguez gets short tweet of the stick

Yankees GM Brian Cashman has many reasons to be fed up with Alex Rodriguez, but today he went overboard.

A-Rod has yet to play a game this season and has been vigorously rehabbing everyday after needing another off-season hip surgery.

He got great news from his doctor yesterday and wanted to share it with Yankee fans via his week old twitter account.

Cashman didn’t agree with A-Rod tweeting this news as I presume injury updates should come from him, or skipper Joe Girardi.

The Yankees GM lost his cool when asked about the tweeted news by ESPN’s Andrew Marchand. Cashman’s exact words were, “You know what, when the Yankees want to announce something, [we will],” Cashman told ESPN New York. “Alex should just shut the f— up. That’s it. I’m going to call Alex now.”

I understand where Cashman is coming from but telling any player to f-off should be done privately and not said during an ESPN interview.

Other Yankees have tweeted injury updates this season, and they weren’t cursed out by the GM at least publicly.

Here are a few examples:

Now of you go to A-Rod’s twitter page it is easy to see that his focus is on getting back on the field in the Bronx, so his status tweet is not coming out of left field.

Dropping f-bombs towards A-Rod only made Cashman look cruel, as he should have better self-control and maturity to address player’s personal matters in private.

Honestly, Cashman should be kissing A-Rod’s behind because his righty bat will plug a huge hole.

After, of course being officially cleared by the Yankees first.
