Yankees: What do you think? Because I do not know.

Even after beating the Seattle Mariners last night 3-2, the New York Yankees are not a good team.

Heading into the season, I was looking forward to getting the good old days when watching a Yankees game was not a chore.

After going 85-77 and missing the post season last year, Yankees ownership (aka. Hal Steinbrenner) went on a spending spree to a tune of $400 million bucks this past off-season to make sure that no repeat occurred.

But with a third of the 2014 season behind them, the Yankees are in remarkably worse shape as I pointed out in yesterday’s post..

With each passing week, my hope that the Yankees can turn things around is dwindling.

I do believe that this Yankees team is not playing up to their potential yet, but maybe I have been brainwashed with the idea that spending a ton of dough meant automatically getting better.

What do you think?

Can the 2014 Yankees turn things around, or they in for another postseason-less October in the Bronx?

  1. John Stephens says:

Hindsight is 20/20 however the may have been better off signing Tanaka and no one else. By signing free agents they not only lose draft picks they are giving them to other teams. The Yankees really need to restock the talent in the minors. They need to build for the future even at the expense of missing the playoffs. The bottomline is that this team is a 500 team or a little over possibly even under.

  2. Hobbes103 says:

I like Ellsbury but the contract may well prove to have been too long. I was all in favor of the Tanaka and McCann signings.

A major deficiency was not signing a credible first baseman in light of Tex's known injury. kelly is not a good first baseman.

Thanks God for Solarte as without him the infield has turned brittle old and weak.

  3. Bill says:

Jeter has been a great player over the years!! But he is playing 1 year too many at short stop. Should have moved to 3rd. or outfield. He is not helping the team.

  4. Steve says:

Holy smokes people: Beltron & Tex just got back in the line-up, CC & Pineda have been out for weeks, & the team is still three games over .500. I like this team much better than last years although not having Cano is an impossible hole to fill. Pennants or not one in May and June (remember last year?). This team will be competing for the division till the very end
