2012 MLB Power Rankings – Week 3

Wow….can you believe we are only a month into the 2012 MLB season

There have been ups and downs…

Numerous injuries to pitchers…

The witnessing of  historical feats, both good and bad….

And the too old playing like they are too young.

It has been insane.

Can’t think of a greater time to be a baseball fan.

To steal a quote from the great Walt Whitman:

I see great things in baseball. It’s our game — the American game. It will take our people out of doors, fill them with oxygen, give them a larger physical stoicism. Tend to relieve us from being a nervous, dyspeptic set. Repair those losses, and be a blessing to us.

Here are my power rankings for week #3: Continue reading ‘2012 MLB Power Rankings – Week 3’ »

“Too Much Moneyball” The Story of the New York Yankees

Ok Yankee fans, I know last night was not the ideal outcome…at all.

Trust me I feel you; and let me say that I was at the Stadium for Game 5 yesterday and all I can say is the fans were rocking. If anything the Yankee players know the fans had their backs, but it just wasn’t enough to get one run to tie it up.

It was the Detroit Tigers night, as it was the Yankees game to lose so you have to congratulate them on a great series and good luck in the ALCS.

Now something to make you laugh a little….

Thanks to the guys over at Midwest Sports Fans, I can share this hysterical video clip of New York Yankees type Moneyball.

It is really funny….so enjoy!!

New York Yankees: Using Tickets Prices To Predict A Milestone

Derek Jeter

Image via Wikipedia

This current series that the Yankees are playing against the Rays is a huge one. Ticket demand is soaring in anticipation for Jeter‘s 3,000th hit. Whats interesting is to analyze the prices based on when fans are assuming that he’ll end up hitting (literally) the milestone.

Thursday 7/6 – Average: $170 (214% of face value)
Friday 7/7 – Average: $222 (234% of face value)
Saturday 7/8 – Average: $219 (244% of face value)
Sunday 7/9 – Average: $226 (215% of face value)

To get into the game prices are hovering around $72 for bleacher seats in the 400 section. Seats near the field are listed as high as $900. Our Deal Score shows the best deals are around $130 or higher per ticket.

For comparison to a recent Yankee milestones tickets to the 8/4/10 game where A-Rod hit his 600th home run averaged just over $200.

If you’re looking for your Yankee tickets today use SeatGeek. The webs largest ticket search engine.

SeatGeek.com is America’s gateway to live entertainment. Our ticket search engine aggregates from 50+ secondary markets like StubHub and local brokers to help fans compare to find the best price on tickets. Because we aggregate millions of tickets to 60,000+ events we have a comprehensive look at industry data and trends.

Also…back in November of 2010 Lady Loves Pinstripes featured a post on the Captain and what this milestone means to the Yankees, the fans and Jeter himself. It was a popular post so click to read… Mr. 3000: Jeter Could Be 1st Bomber To Hit the Mark.
