Hey Yankees…You Can Blame It On The Rain!

I thought the motto of ‘win series’ was going pretty well but have the tides turned on the second place NY Yankees. My Yanks lost a second series in a row to the Florida Marlins, who took two of the three games over the weekend.
I live in Manhattan, where it has been raining so much I think the sun might blind me when it does come out again, I am in a down state. Everyone else here is sick of this weather as well.

So when the Yankees were in first (no I swear for about two weeks the team was ahead of Boston…LOL!) it made the rain sort of tolerable. Since the return of the last Boston massacre in B-town the rain has been non-stop.

I am not counting the fact that the Yankees have been away from the Bronx and still lost. How can I declare this rule? Only because all of us, your fans, were still soaking wet still and so doesn’t count (got that motto from friend). In my head I will take the song line from one of my favorites and “Blame It On The Rain”!!

Now I give you my personal observations of this downward coil created by my Yankees. I want the sun to shine on our marvelous city again.

What did I learn watching the Bombers against the Florida Marlins in another inter-league series?

Arod was given a TO (aka. a time-out) to rest as something is just not clicking for him right now. He has played in every game since returning from his hit surgery. I will not excuse any player (except of your last name is Jeter) for poor performance but in this situation with Arod’s case is legitimate. Alex came back from a serious hip surgery and he came back from it rather quickly. Continue reading ‘Hey Yankees…You Can Blame It On The Rain!’ »

Dear Joe, The Time Has Come….

Dear Mr. Girardi,

I am going to get right to the point and give you some suggestions. Please do not take this as an insult and I know most of the suggestions you have already thought of already.

To be blunt watching the last two losses against Boston were beyond frustrating to watch. Very close games, as expected. Wang starting was a risk that didn’t pan out and I know the past is the past but I was confused as to why not start him at home? I know Wang is a 19 game winner for two season’s in a row but he is not the same player. Considering his mental game was a mess now and last season his weakest starts were on the road and not on Astroturf that it just made no sense to put the pressure on that thick. Whether it was Island or Cashman it is your job to put your 19 game ace in the best place to win for the team and that is not what the organization did. Look it’s done but for Wang it could be a means to an end, which is sad and kinda of unfair considering Hughes would have been better.

Tonight’s game should have been a win for CC and if I were him I would be so pissed off. In this circumstance I am confused about why Mariano could not have been brought in the eighth inning? Or at the very least after the first two outs cause he can definitely handle four outs. Mo hadn’t pitched in three days so it makes no sense to me. And if you try to prove it with the Subway Series coming up this weekend is crap because losing now eight games to Red Sox is going to sting. I just hope that it is not as disruptive on the players as it has been on me as a fan. Furthermore we are going into a hometown series, where the Yankees typically do not fair well in.

After venting my woes to you sir, I hope without going on too much of a tangent. I am not going to get into the many other issues of the debauchery that just happened in Boston because it is in the past or at least in theory.

Mr. Girardi, I think the time has come for Joba to go in the bullpen. I can only imagine how much you have gone over this with whomever else is in the meetings with you but it has come to give it a try. Continue reading ‘Dear Joe, The Time Has Come….’ »

The word of the day….HIT!!

This is not a new problem for the Yankees…..

just a fact that we are leaving our pitchers out to dry by not scoring runs and my pet peeve is when we leave runners on bases constantly, the last two seasons especially. I actually have hung out with Kevin Long a few times and he is a stand up guy, one of the best hitting coaches in baseball….and he does his job, well!! We have a lineup made-up of the premier players so I have many questions….

  1. Could it take the pressure off cause Tex and Arod cause they are 3 and 4??
  2. Jeter and Damon are doing there jobs….so with Jeter out with hamstring (which I hope is not much worse cause DJ does not miss games); Damon is it; and he is doing it as well as can be so maybe cause the pressure is off of him?? Damon has barely had slumps and he did have 1 last year but it was brief, so whats your secret??? Please pass the note to your teammates asap…..thx.
  3. Is it possible that they need to shake this line-up around and Girardi needs to start playingCano and where Tex is and move up Matsui?? Continue reading ‘The word of the day….HIT!!’ »
