New York Yankees Sweep A’s But Double Trouble In Seattle

The New York Yankees brought their brooms out West, as the Bombers easily swept the Oakland Athletics for three-games. Pitching set the tome, as Javy, AJ and Sabathia all were phenomenal in their starts.

The timing could not be better as the Yankees head to Seattle for four-games against the Mariners.

In case Yankee fans forgot on purpose, the Mariners were just in the Bronx a week ago. Trust me, never facing the Mariners one-two knockout of Cliff Lee and Felix Hernandez ever again would have been fine with me.

Lee and King Felix totally massacred the Yankee bats last week. It was not pretty, or fun for Yankee fans to watch because it was that scary.

For a group who can’t score runs, the Mariners have certainly found the perfect solution. Putting Lee and the King on the mound is a guaranteed relief for the Mariner bats.

This makes today’s game a must win for the Yankees because double trouble starts are slated for Friday and Saturday’s games.

New York Yankees Leave It To AJ Burnett

New York Yankees leave it in the hands of AJ Burnett tonight, as a three-game sweep of the in Oakland Athletics is on the line.

When pitching coach Dave Eiland‘s went AWOL most of June, Burnett was significantly affected on the mound. It was the worst month in Burnett’s career, but it also was the worst pitched by a Yankee for the month ever.

At first, Eiland’s absence seemed like a story thrown out by the Yankees to get him some time, as Burnett ever made an excuse. Ups and downs do follow Burnett, but he hit bottom here for sure.

Burnett lost all five starts, only pitched for a total of 22.3 innings in which he gave up 29 earned runs, 17 walks, 10 home-runs and only striking out 19. The walks are nothing new for Burnett, but before this blow he had improved that figure.

Are AJ Burnett’s dreary days over now?

Rays, Red Sox, Yankees One Team Has Got To Go

Timing is everything, especially in the American League East.

It will no doubt come down to the last second with an end result with either the Rays, Red Sox or Yankees deeming 2010 a complete wash-out.

Where are the three best teams in MLB currently standing?

  1. New York Yankees 52-31
  2. Tampa Bay Rays      50-33
  3. Boston Red Sox 49-35

Personally, an old-school ALCS would be mucho appreciated and I am not alone in my sentiments.

It does not get much better than Red Sox vs. Yankees that is a fact.

Problem is the Tampa Bay Rays are on the move and things are heating up for this talented ball-club.

Maybe it is just me, but the Rays make me cringe. Nothing is more unsightly for a team just to be talents, entitled and lazy individuals, which is the Rays in a nutshell.

One lesson I learned earlier this season was not to count out the Boston Red Sox. Even with 10 players on a DL list that reads Ellibury, Pedroia, Buchholz, Beckett and Martinez do not underestimate the Red Sox.

The day I first counted out the Red Sox within two weeks my foot was in my mouth. Red Sox GM Theo Epstein is the master at fixing things. Epstein has proven himself, so all hail to the Red Sox organization without question.

Back to being a Yankees fan, it is easy to forget that the Bombers are a second-half team. Always exploding in July and August, but getting there is the tricky part. MLB Blogger Rankings – Week 13

The AL East remains the beast of baseball with the three top teams all out of that division, again.

The New York Yankees still have the best record in baseball. They remain on top of the Boston Red Sox who are barely hanging onto second place. The Tampa Bay Rays are holding onto the third spot, but they are playing much better baseball right now. If the Red Sox don’t wake-up, grab a player before the trade deadline or something to make up for all the injuries they have recently endured, they will take a hit next week.
The Texas Rangers and Cincinnati Reds are both hot, hot and hotter…..

Alex Rodriguez Sticks It To Grandma In Oakland

Oakland Athletics pitcher Dallas Braden is famous for being protective of his pile of dirt. Especially if you trot over it on your way off the field.

Just ask Alex Rodriguez about the fit Braden threw in the A’s dugout. He was in total outrage over Arod taking the shorter way over his beloved mass. Braden threw his glove, kicked some cups that still had water in them and cursed like a truck driver.

Guess that fact that Arod was right there, in the A’s stadium, his house was just not an option. Hey it was the next best thing than challenging Arod to his face.

Do not forget, Braden also threw a perfect game on 05.09.2010 but has not done much of anything since. Like win another game. Braden only had six strikeouts that day, but it was against the Tampa Bay Rays and they are legit.

Now, the New York Yankees are back for three games in Oakland in Dallas Braden’s house. Arod is now there for the taking.

If I were Arod, I would assume that route back to the dugout again

Why not?

Sticking it to his Grandma is good enough reason. No older respectable woman needs to talk like that or at least add some curse words to look like real white trash.

Go figure that Braden is on the DL with elbow stiffness. He has thrown bullpen sessions. One would think this would be a series Braden would not miss unless his Grandma cut off his arm.

The New York Yankees Are Lucky To Have Brett Gardner

The New York Yankees have a rising superstar in their mitts, with Brett Gardner.

At first, I was hesitant to believe this 5’9 player had just hit some beginners luck at the start of the season. Still, I never questioned his work ethic because all you have to do is watch Gardner and that becomes evident.

Now this prosperity is consistent, as Gardner has stood out all season making dynamic catches out in left-field to hitting in clutch situations. He makes contact with 93% of his swings.

Let’s not forget how fast the 23 year-old is on the bases. Gardner has stolen 24 bases this season and has an 83% success rate.

Gardner is an all-around nuisance to have to play against because he can do it all. Whether it is in the field, on the bases or at-bat he cannot be ignored or else he will make an enemy pay for forgetting.

Try watching Gardner at the plate, the way he reads the ball with such wise eyes that are well beyond his years. Gardner has kept up with baseball’s best as a Yankee and has stolen the spotlight playing the game the right way.

In essence, Brett Gardner continues to be the glue holding the New York Yankees together . A true team player who comes out every game to win and plays hard.

He is having an All-Star season with 29 RBIs, 33 walks, five home-runs, six doubles, four triples, a .319 batting average and .401 on-base-percentage.

Have a feeling that there is plenty of time for Brett Gardner who I look forward to seeing represent baseball as an All-Star for years to come.
