Lady Loves Pinstripes: Is my team trying to lose Super Bowl XLVI?

At 6:30pm tomorrow, Super Bowl XLVI will officially be underway, so it only seems proper that I pick a winner and a loser between the New England Patriots or the New York Giants.

There is only one problem; I am a lifelong Giants fan.

Picking the Giants to win felt way too Jet-like to me.
Especially after seeing the behavior of Rex Ryan and his Jets, the last thing I expected was for the Giants players to go down that path the week of the Super Bowl.
As anyone acting overly confident before facing Patriots QB Tom Brady and coach Bill Belichick is ultimately begging them for a bad day.
I always thought the last thing a self-confident person did was talk about it because they usually owned it.
Believe it, own it, or tattoo it on you behind for all I care but don’t turn into Rex Ryan because Halloween is in October, not February.
So, since I didn’t anticipate hearing any white noise from Big Blue this week it was very unfortunate when I did.
I refuse to name names, or say how I really feel because this is a family friendly blog and I do not have a family friendly answer but I will share one thing I have learned over the years.
Anytime an active player on a championship bound team tells the fan base to “get ready for a parade on Tuesday,” before the team has actually won usually doesn’t fared well.
This applies not just football, but to all sports and many walks of life.
Why anyone would give his or her opponent extra incentive to win is beyond me.
And in the Giants case it looks plain stupid.
It’s as if the four-year long fire up in Foxboro wasn’t motivation enough for the Patriots already.
Obviously the Giants didn’t think so, or think at all because whomever thought that bringing added fuel to Indianapolis was a good idea should be benched.

So, could you please ask me again:

“Who are you picking to win Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday?”

Hey….If your going to talk the talk, you’ve got to walk the walk.
And the Giants have put their words into action, and the big fire in New England didn’t burn the Patriots into winning early this season and that was playing the old version of the 2012 G-MEN.
GIANTS beat PATRIOTS with a score of 27-20.
Let’s Go BIG BLUE!!
