Who are the 2013 New York Yankees?
That is the general question I try to answer anytime I write a team’s preview.
The preview itself is my attempt to forecast the outcome of the upcoming 162-game season.
Regardless of whom I am previewing there will always be questions that only time can answer.
No team can be void of uncertainty but the amount that has been experienced by the Yankees this spring has to be an all-time record.
Barely a day went by this spring when the Yankees were not dealing with some player injury.
This turned a time usually filled with excitement and anticipation into one of trepidation.
As a Yankees fan, I have been told to give this team the benefit of the doubt.
Heck this is the franchise that has been in the playoffs 17 of the last 18 seasons, and won the World Series five times during this spam; so what is my problem?
Believe me when I say the Yankees fan inside me wishes things were different, and that all hope was not lost. But alas I cannot or more like will not.
Therefore previewing the 2013 Yankees could fill a book, and it would be all over the place.
Yes, the numbers of questions being overwhelming plays a part, but not as much as my emotion state.
So pathetically, I blame this preview without a preview on what presently feels like a bad break-up.
I promise to post a real preview but first I have to see things with my own eyes on Opening Day.
I need to witness how Yankee fans respond, to how Sabathia pitches and so many other factors that a fan, like me, needs to experience first.
Basically, I am to angry and discouraged at the moment but maybe the magic of the pinstripes can change that.
So my 2013 New York Yankees Preview is TBD because as of today, I cannot say this team will finish better than last place in the AL East.
