The second-half of the 2012 MLB seasonis officially underway, and my apologies for the rankings being a day late this week.
The New York Yankees were the best team in baseball before the All-Star Break and they still are as they took the first two games from the red-hot Los Angeles Angels and are looking to sweep tomorrow.
The biggest losers this season are the Philadelphia Phillies who have no fight in them, which is not going over well with Philly fans who still fill Citizens Bank hoping for a miracle. Well, there is still time as this team has made a late season run before but it will have to be soon and absolutely enormous.
Now, I am sure all the Yankees haters are loving that the Bombers are once again at the top of my list.
Here are LLP‘s power rankings for week 14 or at the start of the second-half.
New York Yankees Winning...still. 1
Washington Nationals Ian Desmond is raking (51 RBIs; 17 HRs). And Gio Gonalez is an ace.(12-3; 2.92 ERA) 2
Los Angeles Angels Gotta learn to beat the Yanks like in the old days. Trout is AMAZING. 3
Texas Rangers Rotation is in turmoil, as I predicted. Ranking here is polite. 6
Chicago White Sox This team scares me. 5
Los Angeles Dodgers 3.30 team ERA is second best in MLB; Kemp & Ethier both just got activated so watch out! 8
Cincinnati Reds Won last 4 but Pirates are right on their tails. Phillips is on pace for 100 RBIs give or take. 4
Pittsburgh Pirates Best team in 20-years; are tied for first place with Reds. 14
Atlanta Braves Won 5 in a row but need to to catch the Nationals. 12
New York Mets This is the other team that scares me. Dickey & David are both legit stars. 10
Baltimore Orioles Can Jim Thome get them winning again? Hope he doesn't bring Philly's virus with him. .239 BA is pathetic. 9
St. Louis Cardinals The Champs are looking up to the Pirates and that can't feel to good. 15
San Francisco Giants Melk-man is a beast with a .352 BA, 44 RBIs & 120 hits is best in NL. 7
Tampa Bay Rays Evan Longoria is not back to August, but losing Matt Joyce might cost the Rays playing in October. 705 strikeouts is most in AL. 11
Detroit Tigers Won 19 of 30 before the AS break; and currently on a 6-game winning streak; 8-2 in last 10 games. This team will be in a dog fight with White Sox shortly. 19
Boston Red Sox 3-7 in last 10 games & trail the Yanks by 10-games in the AL East. Still score as 412 RBIs is 3rd best in MLB. 13
Toronto Blue Jays Still in the AL East cellar but only by .5 game. Nicest basement in MLB. 16
Cleveland Indians Tigers are about to kick tribe out of second place. Patient hitters as 319 walks is most drawn in Bigs so far this season. 18
Arizona Diamondbacks If Cahill & Kennedy can hit their strides this team willl be contending without question. 17
Oakland A's Josh Reddick gets the heck out of Boston & hits 20 homers in first-half. 9 games out but 1.5 games out of WC spot; .225 BA has to improve. 22
Miami Marlins Too many nut-jobs on team to think things would go smoothly in first season. Stanton on the DL till mid-August doesn't help. 20
Milwaukee Brewers Still 4-games below .500 but 7-3 in last 10 and Braun seems to back to his old self with 26 homes. 21
Kansas City Royals Now 10.5 games back but in the NL Central you never know but don't hold your breath. 23
Philadelphia Phillies Whole team is a BUST. Nothing good about going down so patheticallyu00c9where is that Philly fight? 24
Minnesota Twins Trevor Plouffe has impressed with 19 homers in first-halfu00c9pretty good who was on path to be a minor-league journeyman. 25
Seattle Mariners Montero should be sent to minorsu00c9.hopes and dreams are way gone for 2012 season. 27
Chicago Cubs Will be sellers at trade deadline but have the right guys making those moves this time. Future will be better. 30
San Diego Padres Quentin for sale and some team will bit big for Quentin's pop even with his recent July struggles. 26
Colorado Rockies Second season in a row that the Rockies were royally overrated. Maye it is the altitude? 29
Houston Astros Really bad team but everyone already knew the Astros were a really bad team. 28
