Currently the Texas Rangers have a 3-2 hold-on the Cardinals, making Game 6 a must win for St. Louis.
As for Texas, winning Game 6 would be a first, as the championship trophy has never called Arlington home in Rangers franchise history.
On paper this World Series would seem compelling, with all the pitching changes and the close scoring games but for some reason it is not.
Sorry to say but baseball fans can only blame the Cardinals and Rangers for making this Fall so un-classic.
Never has there been more excuses made by the two teams playing in the World Series.
From having to hear about how much of hero Josh Hamilton is for playing injured; to star players snubbing the media in the postgame; and the icing on the cake was when the Cardinals blamed a game costing mistake on not being able to communicate properly from the dugout to bullpen.
All this blah-blah-blah has accomplished is making the Rangers and the Cardinals come-off as soft, and a bit like sore-losers. And this might be why MLB cancelled Game 6 at 2pm based on a chance of rain, as these teams are way to fragile.
Well, at least the media is attempting drop the phone issue in Rangers Park. This story has dominated the World Series headlines, with second being the pardon given to Hamilton for playing hurt.
The LaRussa situation is troublesome; as it was poor sportsmanship to blame the Cardinals Game 5 loss because the “wrong” pitcher being on the mound. LaRussa defined a sore loser.
Regardless, I have always deemed top professional sports teams, especially the two playing in a championship, to be the crème-de-la-crème of the moment, where the universal mentality is no excuses.
Inevitably mistakes and playing hurt will happen, but when one injury and a phone call take precedence over the game itself…that spells trouble (or boring in this case).
Now on the brighter side…did you know that the Bronx Bombers did have a part in this World Series? It was in a supporting role, which was not by choice but I’ll take it.
Rumor is that the Cardinals dugout phones were not muffled at all; the coaches’ ears were deafened by how loud the Texas fans were chanting “YANKEES SUCK!”
So, it looks like Rangers nation might owe the Yankees one…
My idea is that instead of thanking the New York Yankees, just surprise the Boston Red Sox by signing the team up for Beer-of-the-Month Club for the 2012 season.
I think that would suffice. Oh wait…. The Rangers have to win first.
Winners make goals, losers make excuses. — UNKNOWN
